A person I have dealt with many times and continue to do so, is my mechanic Barry from Smiths Falls Transmission. While his appearance is tidy and clean, he is is not dressed as one would think a professional would be. Being a professional means more to me. When I take my vehicle to get serviced, I know I can trust Barry to get the job done. He is qualified in his trade. He continues learning by going to seminars and taking courses. His accreditations are visible upon entry into his shop (as is his employees's). Not only is Barry skilled, but he has his customers needs and safety at heart. Barry takes the time to discuss what work needs to be done. He ensures I know what needs to be done, and at what cost. He does not try to do more work that needs to be done. He is honest and is not out to make a quick buck. I know when my car is in the shop, I can trust the work is being done properly. I know Barry has the training, and the skill to fix my vehicle. He stands by his work. I truly value his ethic, kindness and honesty. He does not treat me differently because I am a woman, as is the case with some mechanics. For me professionalism is not just about their fancy look, or place of business. I do not need to sit on a leather chair and be served gourmet coffee or sparkling water as I wait. To me, when professionals do that, they are truly trying to make up for a lack of something. Too much flash makes me question their abilities and honestly right from the start. What makes me consider someone a professional is their training and ability. It is how they conduct their business, treat and communicate with their customers. If I feel valued and heard as a customer that makes me trust them. Those are qualities of a real professional.

"My car died on Main Street in Smith Falls yesterday. I was recommended by Kitley Collision who towed our car and were there in less than 30min (amazing in itself) and fantastic rate for the tow. I go into SF Transmission and a great young lady Mechanic met me and welcomed us. She took the car the Jenn took over and set everything up.
